The GRA Productive Growth Counseling Center offers a wide range of programs and services that are able to meet the personal and social needs of our students. Located in Shepard Hall on Grand River Academy’s campus, the Counseling Center helps teenage boys with a variety of emotional topics that include:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- ADD/ADHD
- ODD
- Behavioral Issues
- Social Skills
- High Functioning Autism
- Mood Disorders
- Electronic Addiction
Another unique component to the Productive Growth Counseling Center is a fully tooled woodworking shop. This one-of-a-kind program incorporates the art of hand tool woodworking with traditional counseling methods to help adolescents heal and progress emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The PGC assists with:
- Teaching adolescence the value of hands-on, project-based problem solving skills
- Directly integrating counseling skills into lifelong recreational and social activities
- Guiding adolescent boys to focus their energies in a productive and positive manner
- Empowering adolescent boys to identify personal strengths and weaknesses; then implement the proper gameplan to obtain desired outcomes
- Inspiring an internal determination to self advocate for desired outcomes
